Rainbow Six Siege

Today we have the last installment of our Rainbow Six retrospective for you.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege (2015) Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC

There was quite a gap between Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Rainbow Six Siege. There was supposed to be another game in between, called Patriots, but that was ultimately canceled.

Rainbow Six Siege served as a reboot for the series. Whereas in the past the series had been very story driven. Siege did not have a campaign at all! There were solo missions that would have a briefing and a reason for you doing what you were doing, but the narrative, in general, was very lose and weak compared to past games.

Gameplay wise, Rainbow Six: Siege was really heavily based on tactics. This time they added a lot of environmental damage which could greatly affect how you went about your mission. One thing that was really cool was that you were either attacking or defending during gameplay situations like having to stop a bomb from exploding or that Rainbow Six favorite, rescuing hostages.

With 11 maps and 5 game modes at launch, Rainbow Six: Siege had a lot to keep players occupied. Ubisoft has done a great job in supporting the game and they have added some great new content to it, to keep the player base happy.

For the most part, Rainbow Six: Siege was well received, but not quite as glowingly as some of the past games. Many people liked the gameplay and the in depth tactical aspect of it but felt that the lack of a single player campaign was disappointing. Hopefully, this will not be the last we see of Rainbow Six, but Ubisoft has said that in the coming years, rather than release a new game. Siege will be supported with DLC.
